Vintage Corgi James Bond, DB5'65 #261, NEVER PLAYED WITH, RARE GOLD SHIELD, NM

CONDITION DESCRIPTION: This SENSATIONAL, VERY, FIRST EDITION, 1965, Corgi, James Bond Aston Martin, Model 261, HAS NEVER BEEN PLAYED WITH AND IS IN NEAR MINT CONDITION. Only a couple scratches are noticed on this near mint DB5 model!

The glistening, gold paint still sparkles from bumper to bumper!! The windows are all clear and shiny with only a couple light scratches on both windshield and rear window. Only a couple small knicks are noticed on the bumpers. The RARE GOLD bullet proof shield is still bright and shiny. The bullet proof shield does not fully eject by itself and comes out at an angle.

Is most likely the cause of the plastic track inside the car that guides it is chipped on the top and can no longer guide it straight. When it ejects it gets stuck on the right and needs a hand to manually straighten it by pushing to the left. Many of these first'65's unfortunately develop this problem over time. Once it is out, it sits up straight like all the rest and displays beautifully!! All switches for the front guns, bullet proof shield, and ejector seat work smooth as silk. The spoked wheels are clean and bright without any oxidation. The original tires are all in very nice shape and do not show any cracks or flat spots. The baseplate still looks new and shiny with only a very light scratch near the switches and muffler. Both included figures are also in very nice condition. Just for Gee-Whiz: This VERY, FIRST EDITION was produced just before Christmas in 1965. It is believed that in the flurry to get it out before the Christmas season, Corgi streamlined the production without proper Quality Control and therefore made a few costly casting errors. The most obvious was the LACK OF TURN SIGNALS ON THE FRONT and a DB4 rear end that hosted slightly different taillights. The front grill needed to also be squared off and the front fender vents needed to be larger. These changes were quickly fixed by Corgi immediately after Christmas but due of the overwhelming success of this all-time favorite and one-of-a-kind toy, they kept the original casting in play until January 1966 when they officially switched to the corrected version. VERY RARELY, can you find an EXCEPTIONAL, 60-YEAR-OLD DB5 like this one. It had never been handled by a child, NEVER PLAYED WITH, STILL SHINES LIKE NEW! THE RARE GOLD, BULLET PROOF SHIELD, ALSO, STILL SPARKLES!!
